In late 2018 one of the worlds most renowned documentary makers disappeared from the face of the earth. Lenny Theroo is well known for exploring the strange nature of human beings but it seems his recent endeavour cost him dearly.
Since its debut in 2016 My Strange Obsessions has seen Theroo look into why certain people form what some would consider unnatural or abnormal attachments to certain objects, lifestyles and even beliefs. From people who drink bleach and eat only custard creams to people who wear a Shrek mask and Shrek hands every day, Theroo has seen many individuals who have changed the way that he perceives what it means to be human.
In Series Three of the hit programme he met quite possibly the most complex and to an extent deluded subject that he has ever met before. John lives in Devon and identifies not as a man or a women but as something quite unheard of. For 18 years John J Ester has identified as a clown. It was during Lenny's exploration of John's life and psyche that he went missing.
